EU Privacy Policy

Introduction

Vision Information Logistics, LLC and our affiliates (“Vision” or “we”) respect the privacy of any personal information that we may collect in the course of provision of our inventory management services to our clients.  This policy describes the types of information we collect and how we intend to use it.

Safe Harbor

Vision adheres to the Safe Harbor Principles concerning the transfer of personal information from the European Union (the EU) to the United States of America, and Vision’s privacy policy is self-certified to the Safe Harbor Program. This policy applies to all personal information we receive from the EU.  Our adherence to the Safe Harbor Principles through this policy will provide the necessary level of protection in respect of personal information.

Service Provider

Generally, Vision receives personal information from the EU as a service provider acting on the instructions of its client;  Vision receives the information in its capacity as a “data processor”, with the client being the “data controller”.

In such cases, where Vision receives personal information from the EU merely for processing on behalf of its client, Vision will follow its client's instructions and will co-operate with its client to comply with the Safe Harbor Principles and this Policy.

Types of Personal Information We Collect and How We Collect It

NOTE: Vision’s business is to provide inventory management services to its clients who are suppliers,  retailers, manufacturers and distributors.  Vision does not market or seek to sell its services to the public or to individual consumers.  Accordingly, Vision strongly urges any individuals who access the Vision websites, systems and/or interact with Vision offline to only provide contact information for their place of business and other business-specific information directly related to the inventory management services that Vision is providing.

This policy covers the following personal information that Vision may collect from individuals in the EU through the use of the Vision websites and systems and any interactions with Vision offline. 

The individuals concerned may be employees or agents of Vision’s clients or of the various suppliers, retailers, warehouses, manufacturers and merchandisers with whom our clients do business (“Supply Chain Partners”).

Vision may collect this information from offline and online registrations, forms, electronic file transfer, communications and interactions, and sales inquiries and transactions or may receive it from its subsidiaries, affiliates or clients in the EU:

           Contact information, such as name, physical address, telephone number, fax number, email address, and company

(referred to in this policy as “personal information”).

Cookies: Cookies are small text files, which a website can send to a user's browser for storage on the hard drive. Vision uses cookies to collect general usage and volume statistical information (which does not include personally identifiable information). Some cookies may remain on the user's computer after they leave the website, and the majority are set to expire within 30 days to a year. While we do not offer an opt-out for cookies, browsers provide you information and control over cookies. You can set your web browser to alert you when a cookie is being used, and accept or reject the cookie. You can also set your browser to refuse all cookies or accept only cookies returned to the originating servers. Users can generally disable the cookie feature on their browser without affecting their ability to use the site, except in some cases where cookies are used as an essential security feature necessary for transaction completion.

Use and Sharing of Personal Information

Vision may use personal information for the following purposes:

To provide inventory management services. Vision may use personal information to provide management information related to our client’s inventory, including contacting our client to confirm the accuracy of such information and to report such information to our client.

To provide support or other services. Vision may use personal information to provide support or other services to our clients and our clients’ Supply Chain Partners and for this purpose may share personal information with our clients and our clients’ Supply Chain Partners.

To comply with legal requirements. Vision may be required to disclose personal information in order to comply with legally mandated reporting, disclosure or other legal process requirements. Vision will use reasonable efforts to limit the personal information it provides for this purpose.

Opting Out

Vision does not use personal information for marketing its services or those of its affiliates, either through email or direct mailing.  Vision may send some non-marketing communications that are not subject to general opt-out, such as (a) information that you request we send to you or to third parties with whom you do business, and (b) disclosures to comply with legal requirements and other informational notices.

As described above, Vision collects the personal information described herein only for the limited purposes of providing its inventory management services to its clients and their Supply Chain Partners.  Vision shall not use personal information for purposes not directly related to its provision of inventory management services.  In providing such services, Vision may share the personal information with our clients and our clients’ Supply Chain Partners.

you may opt out by sending an email to vision_optout@visioninfo.com from the email address that you have chosen to opt out. Please note that if you do opt out, we may not be able to provide services or functionality for which the disclosure of personal information to our clients and our clients’ Supply Chain Partners is necessary.

Security

The security of personal information is very important to Vision.  We have in place physical, administrative and technical safeguards designed to protect personal information as far as reasonably possible from unauthorized access and from accidental loss, destruction or damage.

If as a result of a security breach your personal information is acquired, or is reasonably believed to have been acquired, by an unauthorized person and if applicable law so requires, Vision will notify you of the breach by email, fax or mail.  Vision will notify you promptly, consistent with the reasonable needs of law enforcement and/or Vision to determine the scope of the breach and to investigate and restore the integrity of the data system.

Compliance

Vision uses the self-assessment approach to assure its compliance with the Safe Harbor Principles and this Policy.  If you believe personal information has been used in a way that is not consistent with this Policy or the Safe Harbor Principles, or if you have further questions related to this policy, please contact:

Access

Upon request, unless any exemptions apply, Vision will (within a reasonable period of time from the date of the request) give you reasonable access to personal information that it holds about you.  In addition, Vision will take reasonable steps to permit you to correct, amend, or delete personal information that is shown to be inaccurate or incomplete. You will need to provide proof of identity so that we can prevent unauthorized disclosures.

Acceptance

Use of the Vision website signifies that you have read, that you comprehend and that you accept all provisions of the Vision Privacy Policy.

Updates

We may update this policy from time to time, consistent with the requirements of the Safe Harbor Principles.  We will post a prominent notice in this section of this policy notifying users when it is updated.  If we are going to use personal information in a manner that is materially different from that stated at the time of collection, we will notify you via email, and you will have a choice as to whether or not we use personal information in this different manner.
